Wood turned bowls are some of the most beautiful things that can come off a lathe. Getting into my shop and learning how to turn bowls has truly been a labor love...but it's something that I truly am grateful that I've taken the time to learn.

I love working with Cherry Wood. A few months ago a neighbor cut down some trees on his property and asked if I wanted any of the wood. So I was the lucky recipient of cherry and apple wood. This bowl was made on August 5, 2024, for Week 18 of the B.P. Farms Workshop Instagram series “It’s Monday…let’s make something!” If you’d like to read more about it you can check out my blog post! I’ve made live edge bowls before, but this was a new twist. I had in mind an artistic piece that would sit on an entry table or coffee table..or could even hang on a wall! While this piece wouldn’t be functional for holding things…it’s a beautiful piece of art. Either way…this piece will get some attention!

Please note that this piece has been drying inside since the beginning of August, and while there haven’t been any cracks developing normal during the drying process, depending on how dry your climate is some might develop. That's the great thing about wood...it can change a bit as time goes on!

This piece was hand turned, by me, here on the farm and finished with Walrus Oil Cutting Board Oil and rubbed down with B.P. Farms Wood Butter.
