Like every other woodworker, I have a lot of wood in my barn that I’ve collected over the years that I’ve been trying to find a use for. And recently…I found it!

Wooden Bud Vases are a wonderful accent to any home. The vases are not meant to hold water and live plants. Did you find the perfect bloom you wanted to dry and display? These vases will be perfect for it! In the pictures, I’ve displayed them with a live section of a plant…but no water was added to this vase.

This vase is made from a piece of Spalted Alder Wood. This is from a tree that fell across the driveway at our previous home. The spalting (or discoloration and black lines) is cause by certain fungi and bacteria that got into the wood and extracted nutrients and leaving these markings in it’s place. There are also some bug and worm holes in parts, which adds to the uniqueness of this piece!

Please note that because this is a handmade item, and just the nature of wood itself...that over time depending on temperature and moisture, this vase might change shape slightly. That's part of the charm of handmade wooden items.
